Projects
Escogenia's first project is on a small Greek island and it's the base to develop its energy delivery model.
The island is currently served by a thermo-electrical plant located on the adjacent bigger island. The island is very popular among tourists and has a population of few hundred in winter and several thousand in summer.
Escogenia has presented to the Municipality of the island a project aimed at creating a local Energy Service Company (ESCO), to be owned by the Municipality, island residents, industrial partners and external investors.
The ESCO objective is to make the island 100% renewable and sustainable.
The ESCO will manage the energy production from renewable sources on the island, following a path that will gradually lead to the sale of energy to the external marketplace. The first stage will provide savings for the residents and the second stage will bring the creation of an independent smart grid. Other island's industries, tourism and agriculture first, are involved by the project obtaining effective cross-marketing benefits.
The project is now being discussed by the community of the island (dissemination phase).
.
PHASE 1
RES plants deployment and self consumption
In a scalable and sustainable logic, RES plants start to be deployed by the ESCO to provide savings of energy and costs for the residents, in order to fulfill their needs of users. Net metering is used.
PHASE 2
Smart grid and local electrical market
When RES plants are enough to cover the winter peak of electrical loads, the ESCO integrates them in a smart grid, in order to fulfill the needs of the community with centralized energy stocking facilities. A local market is activated.
PHASE 3
Renewable energy 100% production and access to external energy markets
RES plants are increased and the summer load peak is covered, the island is 100% renewable. Further improvement of the renewable generation capacity of the island is dedicated to produce energy to be sold on the external markets.
